Let’s go the Rama-Land and get a feel of this beautiful Asian country, which boasts spectacular mountain ranges, blue water beaches, gigantic and friendly elephants. Yes! Your most wish-listed destination Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia located in the Indian Ocean. It is famous for its diverse landscapes range from rainforest and arid plains to highlands and sandy beaches.

Famed for its ancient Buddhist ruins, including the 5th-century citadel Sigiriya, with its palace and frescoes, the temple of sacred tooth relic, Pinnawala elephant Orphanage, the Golden cave Temple and Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka has a lot more to offer as compared to its small territory size.

We will cover the major cities in Sri Lanka during the tour namely Colombo (the Capital), Sigiriya (famous for the rock fortress), Dambulla, the town of Kandy, hill station Nuwara Eliya and Bentota which is famous for its serene beach.

Itinerary

Day 01: Sunday, 11th Aug 2019 – Enter into the Island Country / Colombo / Dambulla (4 Hrs – 160 Kms)

Arrive at Colombo and meet your Travel Trikon buddy at airport. We will have a small introduction round and straightaway move to Pinnawala Elephant orphanage for some elephant sightings. It is the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Wild Asian elephants playing in the water or having a fun time is a treat for the eyes to watch. Next we have lunch on the way and move towards a scenic road drive towards Dambulla. Check in to the hotel on reaching and have dinner there. Overnight at Dambulla.

 

 

Day 02: Monday, 12th Aug 2019 –Ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Spice Gardens / Kandy (3 Hrs – 90 Kms)

 

We have early morning breakfast, check out and move to the Sigiriya Rock fortress. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high!!!! We climb this rock formation and have a splendid view of the entire area around us. Post descend, we have our lunch and move to visit the Golden cave Temple. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka and is also a world heritage site. Sri Lanka is not complete without a tour to the Spice Gardens. Yes, we visit the spice garden at Matale en-route Kandy and indulge ourselves in the aroma of the magnificent plantation.Later on reaching Kandy, check in to our hotel and enjoy Kandyan Dance performance. Have dinner at hotel and overnight at Kandy.

 

 

Day 03: Tuesday, 13th Aug 2019 – Kandy City Tour / Nuwara Eliya (3 Hrs - 80 Kms)

 

Have morning breakfast, check out and visit the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. It houses the tooth relic of Lord Buddha and has always been important as a part of the Buddhist Culture. It is believed that whoever holds the relic owns the governance of the country. The city of Kandy is a world heritage site mainly due to this temple existence.

Thereafter commence a city tour of Kandy including the Upper Lake Drive, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum and Lapidary. We visit the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya on the banks of the Sri Lanka’s longest river and see its magnificent Orchid House and the grove of splendid trees all planted by eminent world figures!!! Post lunch, we continue to Nuwara Eliya, the hill station of Sri Lanka and visit a Tea Plantation enroute. Nuwara Eliya produces one of the best tea in the world. We will continue to Ramboda falls if time permits. Check in to hotel in Nuwara Eliya, have dinner and relax and unwind overnight.

 

 

Day 04: Wednesday, 14th Aug 2019 – Hill Station Tour of Nuwara Eliya / Kitugala / Bentota (5.5 Hrs – 220 Kms)

 

Post morning breakfast, check out from hotel and commence a sightseeing tour in the city of Nuwara Eliya, surrounding its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, producing a significant share of the world's best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia. Later we visit Bentota via Kitugala and check in to our hotel. Dinner at hotel and Stay Overnight.

 

 

Day 05: Thursday, 15th Aug 2019 – Colombo City tour / Airport Drop (2 Hrs – 80 Kms)

 

With a heavy heart, we check out from the last hotel of our trip post breakfast and visit the pristine Bentota beach to bask in the fresh air of Sri Lankan coastline. We then proceed to the capital of Sri Lanka, our last destination for the tour, Colombo. Sightseeing places include Old parliament, Dutch Hospital for Shopping and Restaurant, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Buddhist Hindu Temple, Colombo Lake, Town Hall and shopping. We then move to the airport for our journey back home. Trip concludes.

FAQs

Flight Timings and Options:

· Arrival at Colombo Airport (Bandaranaike International Airport) should be before 8.30 AM on 11th Aug 2019
· Departure from Colombo Airport (Bandaranaike International Airport) should be after 8.30 PM on 15th Aug 2019
· Direct flights are available from all major cities in India to Colombo
· Alternatively, you can book flight tickets from Chennai to Colombo and return. Travelling to Chennai can be done via Train/Bus or any other more economical mode of transport.

Note: We can arrange alternate stay arrangements for you if you reach Colombo earlier than arrival date or leave later than the departure date. Additional charges in this case will be borne by the participant.

Visa Assistance: Visa assistance will be provided by us for people having a valid Indian Passport post confirmation of the event with a nominal fee.

Currency Assistance: Most places throughout Sri Lanka only accept Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) as currency. It can easily be exchanged with Indian Currency (INR) at the Colombo airport. Apart from this, USD is accepted at some places in Colombo and also at all entry fee checkpoints throughout the country.

IMPORTANT: Avoid wearing precious Jewelry during the event, as Travel Trikon won’t be responsible for any losses for the same.

Consuming liquor or any kind of Alcoholic substance is prohibited. Carrying any kind of substance that’s illegal is not allowed. Smoking is strictly not allowed. Anybody found smoking or consuming alcoholic drinks will be expelled from the event without refund.

Fitness & Health – Though this event is a fun-filled activity, it demands good amount of physical fitness. If you are under medication, please carry your medicines. During the trek, leaders will have over the counter medication for temporary treatment, so do give a heads up to them if you need any medical assistance.
